I visited NowGamer for the first time in weeks the other day and it's pretty bad, it used to be a good site too.

I've had to stop following them on Facebook/Twitter, it has just become the gaming equivalent of a tabloid newspaper. Full of misleading headlines, fluff pieces, etc. I feel sorry for the guys who are still working there being forced to peddle crap.megablast16 wrote:I visited NowGamer for the first time in weeks the other day and it's pretty bad, it used to be a good site too.Wolvieware wrote:The website covers a lot but it's so biased the news wasn't impartial. I still have that tape somewhere! I love the Outrun soundtrack. I have Magical Sound Shower on my iPod.CPC6128 wrote:I used to get C&VG every month. I still have a few copies up in my loft I'm sure. I remember when they gave away a cover cassette of the Out Run and 720 Degrees arcade music. I played that thing to death.
I've just a look at NowGamer. It does look a bit crap now. Far too many 'list' items on it (and the internet generally). I mean, I like a 'best games of the year' feature as much as the next gamer but about half the front page of NowGamer today is list-based

Re: Random game chat
Anybody have any problems with PSN or Xbox Live on Xmas Day? Apparently Lizard Squad launched DDOS attacks on both services again although neither Sony or Microsoft have confirmed this, and there are still some technical problems with the networks, it was even on BBC news this morning. I only used my PS4 for a little bit yesterday afternoon and got a PSN is under maintenance message.

I was too busy to play them early in the day as since my mum passed a few years ago Im the one who does all the cooking etc but I did log on to xbox live to let the xbox games I had been brought instal, grab updates etc and it worked without an issue. Latter like 7 in the evening i settled don to have a go and couldnt log in, then about 8 when I tried again it worked. I tried the ps4 at about 10 and couldnt log in to that either.

*sigh* these Lizard Squard people are really starting to piss me off. They've come out with the reason as to why they keep doing this and it is basically "because we can and so we can get jobs out of it." Pathetic really at the end of the day, I really hope the lot of the. Get found out and face criminal charges.
Re: Random game chat
I got on this morning and downloaded a few bits of DLC for my new games but once again I'm now getting error messages.

Those fuckers who've crashed PSN and XBL should be jailed for a long time. I'm thinking of all the kids who got consoles from Santa and have not been able to play them properly. What's the point in what they have done? Utter bastards.

I was able to sign in last night for the first time since Xmas Eve, but today I can't connect to the server again so can't sync Trophies, use the store etc.
EDIT: A day later and I'm connected again, hopefully for keeps this time.

Re: Random game chat
So I'm playing Lego Batman today. I've been playing for about an hour, as the levels seem to be really long. It's not really the greatest level in the world either, full of poor sign posted objectives and illogical puzzle solving (why does Batman's Arctic Suit not put out flames in one part of the level, but does in the other? Why, so you are forced to use Lex Luthor who can walk on flames), and generally just getting a bit fed up with changing suits (I sat stumped on one puzzle for ages, because I didn't realise that a particular character had the particular suit that I needed to get past the bloody door...and there was no signposting in the game, I found it by accident in the radial menus)...when....dun dun dun....the fucking game fucking crashes, and I've lost my whole hour's progress!
What a waste of fucking time. And not even that much fun time either. I couldn't be arsed to try and play it again (Ihad to go out anyway, so couldn't afford to sit there for another hour) but my life, I cannot remember the last time I have been so fucked off by a game.
If a game has levels that last over an hour, don't you think it wise to stick some fucking checkpoints in the middle of it? Huh, TT? Huh?! Such a basic thing.
Perhaps this is what you get when you release 4 Lego games in the space of a year...

I think that, as we spend more time online, punishments for online-related lawbreaking should reflect that. Property crime (real property) can result in hefty sentences (as, historically, the people making the laws were the people who owned property), online crime should be in line with that. Spending some time with crims should wake them up a bit.CPC6128 wrote:Those fuckers who've crashed PSN and XBL should be jailed for a long time. Saw this video for a new, transformable controller system yesterday, it's mainly designed for gaming on mobile Android devices but it can also be used with PC's and media streaming devices via Bluetooth and looks pretty cool, it'll cost a whopping $300/£250 though.

I played the first Lego Batman and somehow forced myself to get a 100% on it. Great game but so much repetition and a few too many obscure bits. I tried to play one of the Star Wars Lego games afterwards and I literaly had to turn it off during the first level because it was utterly identical just with different characters/setting.
No idea if the newer games have the same issue but I'm not sure I'd want to splash the cash on one just in case!

Re: Random game chat
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga on DS was the first one that I played and I loved it. Followed it up with the Indy trilogy also on DS and wasn't that impressed due to being very much the same. Then got Batman with my 360 and really enjoyed that one as was different on console over handheld. I'd still like to get Batman 2 and 3 and Marvel Superheroes but not fussed about the rest at the moment.
I think it just depends which ones you play and on which format.

Re: Random game chat
I have, actually, played all of them. And yes they are all very similar but each one will have something unique to it.
The best is easily Marvel Superheroes. It has fantastic service to the license. Lego Star Wars would be next as the original. Others I enjoyed were the first Indiana Jones and Harry Potter. But I'd avoid the Lego Movie, Second Indiana Jones and Batman 2.
It's not do much the formula that annoys me as I enjoy the games, just that repetitive issues and bugs still have not been addressed in subsequent releases. But not many series have four releases in a year!

Re: Random game chat
I mostly buy the Lego games for my daughter and then potter around on them myself. Ive finished lego movie, played a bit of marvel, started the hobbit.
The old ones yeah I finished the two starwars ones but Jones 1 and batman 1 just kept peeving me off with glitches and bizarre puzzles I didn't want to go to a guide for so would stop playing.

Re: Random game chat
I've decided that 2015 is going to be my year for working on my PSN completion rate, although how that turns out remains to be seen.
Most notably, I really want to start tackling some of those incomplete games, especially those on the PS3, probably not helped by the fact that I've already played/completed most of them on the 360. I guess that my plans to repurchase some of them because I thought I'd like to go through them again eventually hasn't quite played out as I expected it would.
It's not necessarily about whoring trophies but I'll not complain when they start dropping.

There was one in the first Batman on the prison level where you need to jump on a series of bollards in order to unlock a mini-kit. There's no reaction or signal from any of the bollards when jumping on them so how the hell are you supposed to figure that one out?
I wish I'd played the Star Wars ones first so that those ones were all new and fresh rather than seeing the same formula and being instantly bored with it (I'm not even a big Batman fan). This was on the PS2 so I might have to try one of the newer ones sometime. I did like the look of Marvel Superheroes to be honest.

I was quite amused to see a report today that showed Xbox users watched the most porn on their consoles.

Probably because it's 'Better with Kinect'
