Ever wanted to repair a bad game ?
Have you ever as a kid or even now played a bad game and even though it might be a wretched turd sat and thought you know what this could be fixed, there is some potential here, it just needs this or that doing to it?
If so what game was it, what was wrong, what did you want to change, how much of a difference do you think could have been made and how much time, money and effort do you think it would have taken ?
Intrested to see what you all think and I will share some ideas of my own.

I don't think any developer goes out with an objective to create a bad game, of course they don't. But I pull my hair out when I play a game with poorly placed checkpoints. Surely a decent amount of play testing brings those kinds of issues to the fore?

Yeah thats the kind of thing I mean.... I am thinking about games where you kind of almost like it or feel you could like it but tiny little errors that you feel could have been programmed away in an extra afternoon stop you, or if something small had been added it would have helped.
When I was talking about this with someone I used the example of the old NES game Festers Quest it had potential but lots of issues... a lot of its issues feel like a programmer could fix them in an hour or two of coding... your life bar is in my opinion too small, when you couple this to the fact that your weapons all shoot in an arc which cripples there usefulness and the fact that when you die and continue you start at the very start of the game(although you keep your upgrades). Now throw in a few checkpoints, maybe speed up the characters movement speed a little, make the darn weapons shoot straight and it would be very diffrent and surly none of that is a take it back to the drawing board kind of issue.

The thing is though there are often many reasons why a game ends up the way it is. Especially for things like checkpoint locations, weapons and game controls.
