Re: General TV thread
I'm halfway through season 2 at the moment and the show improves immensely. This is mainly because he's finally stopped killing people!
I'm also really enjoying the new season of Agents of SHIELD. The show has found its grove now.

Re: General TV thread
Currently watching an Irish 'gangster' type show called 'Love/Hate'.
It's really good. Quite funny at times and also quite violent too. Think The Wire or The Sopranos but on a much smaller scale and with Irish people!

Re: General TV thread
Caught up with episodes two and three of Gotham and really not impressed which is a shame as before it was shown I was really excited about it. Apparently episode six is supposed to be really good so will stick with it for the moment.
Also watched second episode of SHIELD season two last night which was decent enough.

I just found out that the BBC have made a 7 part mini-series of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. This could be the best thing ever, especially as Eddie Marsan is playing Mr Norrell. Perfect casting.

I accidentally stumbled across the existence of this on IMDB and have been waiting for an air date. Massive fan of the book and glad that it hasn't been adapted as a film (too much would've been lost).CPC6128 wrote:I just found out that the BBC have made a 7 part mini-series of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. Re: General TV thread
Caught with the entire first series of The Fall, very overrated in my opinion.
Interesting concept and quite good in places but overall I think that the press are hyping it a bit too much.
Also watched the last two episodes of Detectorists, absolutely loved it.

Over the past week, I have caned the 6 or so available episodes of Constantine on Amazon Instant Video (taking Amazon up on its free month of Prime offer ). I used to read Hellblazer in the 90s (after Sandman, it was my favourite comic) and this is (but for the almost total lack of smoking (network TV and all that)) a pretty good rendition of Constantine (I've always said Constan-tine but this follows the film version Constan-Teen. Not sure about that). He could be a bit more of a bastard but all in all, promising stuff. Decision on Season 2 to be made after Xmas, apparently.

Re: General TV thread
I keep meaning to check it out. But the lack of his actual Liverpool accent disappoints me.sorenlorensen wrote:Over the past week, I have caned the 6 or so available episodes of Constantine on Amazon Instant Video (taking Amazon up on its free month of Prime offer ). I was initially concerned that he'd get an American accent, or midatlantic so any type of Brit accent was fine with me. I'm not sure the American viewing public is ready for a Scouse accent
As it is, Matt Ryan's strange (to my ears) Welsh accent works fine - it's Edward Kenway!
One jarring point for me was theres an ep in a mining town and he says he knows about mining as he's from Liverpool. Hmm, not many mines in Liverpool...

Just finished off the second season of Orange is the New Black.
Fantastic programme, ended up watching both seasons straight after each other as loved it.

Over the last few days I have watched Falling Skies with my dad. If you like Aliens and the walking dead give it a bash.

Just watched the first two episodes of Constantine on Lovefilm. Loved them. Best thing I've seen since Arrow.

Started Marco Polo on Netflix last night and was very impressed by everything. The cast, the acting, the production values, the story its all rather impressive.
EDIT: There are also boobs, lots and lots of boobs.

Re: General TV thread
Marco Polo is one that I want to look at before cancelling Netflix (and swapping to Amazon). I'll move onto it after I do the final season of Breaking Bad.

Re: General TV thread
Boobs and a pretty cool fight involving on character kicking a whole bunch of ass while being naked. You see all her muscles contort and move as she is flipping about the place. Pretty cool and gives you an appreciation for what the human body can do! (also boobs!)dste01 wrote:cal_el wrote:Started Marco Polo on Netflix last night and was very impressed by everything. Re: General TV thread
Finished all of Constantine. It's fucking brilliant! From the very first episode it just grabbed me. Good special effects, neat little storylines, and the guy playing Constantine is very watchable and engaging. I don't watch much TV - I find it very hard to keep the attention for 22 odd episodes. So I know something is really special when I can't stopped watching it, like Firefly or Battlestar Galactica. This has instantly joined in that list after only 8 episodes (episode 4 being a fantastic highlight, and apparently based on the first issue of Hellblazer). I read there is more episodes coming soon, but I'm worried that this hasn't been doing as well as it should be in America, and that it may not be getting a second series.

Re: General TV thread
Constantine is excellent. But there are 13 eps in the first (and hopefully not only) season - it hit its mid season break in the US, recommences 16/1 . Amazon were putting them up as soon as they aired on NBC. I thought the 8th ep was great but all of them were good. Matt Ryan (Edward Kenway's voice actor!) is a great Consantine.
2nd season is up in the air - i heard NBC decide in the spring whether to recommission. It didn't pick up the back nine eps (could've been 22 in first season) so not a good sign).
@danielvcerone is the show's producer - worth looking at his Twitter timeline as he bangs the Constantine drum. I voted in the People's Choice awards for it!
The final 5 eps will likely see me take out a Prime sub, after I watched the first 8 on a 28-day trial
