The COD Thread.
Don't know if anybody is interested in Call Of Duty these days but Advanced Warfare is getting some pretty good reviews, mostly 8's, and a generally positive reception with many calling it best COD game since Modern Warfare.

Nah couldn't care less. Doesn't interest me at all. The concept of modern warfare has already been done before and I'm not interested in a CoD take on it.
Re: The COD Thread.
But it's not modern warfare anymore it's advanced warfare!

I saw it in tesco's for 40quid and I had 20 quid of vouchers on me so I considered it for a moment.... then I remember the fiancée brought me costs for 360 new for 15quid a few months after release and its still sat sealed on my shelf.

Sounds like 'Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter'. Not exactly original.
Exosuits? Crisis and Titanfall to name some games off the top of my head.
I'll give it a miss.

I'm pretty convinced I'll drop by Tesco on my way in to work tomorrow. I was on the fence but I watched some Twitch streams at the weekend and my CoD juices started flowing again. The positive reviews have tipped me over the edge.

But they always have positive reviews. Even Black Ops 2, which is arguably the worst in the series. Ghosts got mostly 8s too, and the phrase "Best COD since Modern Warfare" got bandied about. Same with Black Ops, highly reviewed, "Best COD since MW" bollocks. COD reviews are industry standards - they are all the same every year. I think they recycle their reviews like Activision recycles the game.
All I'm saying, really, is, the reviews are bollocks and I wouldn't rely on them. But I actually think the game looks alright. I genuinely enjoyed Ghosts last year, and this has made me open to the idea of playing another one, even if it does seem a bit unoriginal, like Marky says, doesn't mean it won't be good. The only thing is...I'm not prepared to pay £45 for what will be an afternoon's play.

Black Ops 2 is one of the better ones I think, while Ghosts is probably the worst. And to be fair, Ghosts was the worst reviewed since COD3 I think, it was 7s mostly.
I do agree with you on the overinflated scored though. Remember when MW2 got 9s and 10s? And for some reason the graphics are always praised when it's looked very average for a few years now.
I've only read VideoGamer's AW review and it sounds quite good. It's quite cheap this year as well, you can get it for about £35 on PS4.

Only ever played two-player on one of the older ones as COD just isn't my cup of tea. I do own one of them MW2 I believe that I picked up for free earlier in the year but it's still to be played.

I agree that the reviews for COD should usually be taken with a pinch of salt, but it was the GameCentral review that caught my eye. They are usually pretty honest and reliable and rate a game on it's merits not hype or to curry favour and yet even they liked it and scored it 8/10.
From what I've seen and heard it does genuinely seem to be an improvement over recent Call Of Duty efforts.
