The GTA thread
Who's getting the updated version then?
I can't help but think I didn't give the game enough time the first time round and judged too quick. However, I'm loathe to buy it again as how much better will it look and play?

No fucking chance!
Whilst it's not a bad game as such, it was a hell of a long way from the second coming of Christ that all the reviewers and gaming media made it out to be. The story was pretty shit, the missions were nothing to right home about, the heists were nowhere near as exciting as advertised (barring one or two) and the only decent character was Trevor.
The best thing about it was, it taught me to never ever buy another GTA game again.

Re: The GTA thread
Yeah these were mostly the thoughts I had other than Trevor. Hate him. Terrible character. At least he had some 'character' I guess.
The game really lacked focus. The 3 character thing was always going to be an issue for me and despite pulling it off the best way possible it was still weak and dull from a story perspective.

Should you get tempted again when the inevitable hype kicks in again, just think 'Franklin-dull as shit-generic as fuck-Clinton'. That should be more than enough for a reality check

I prefer the saints row type of thing... I found GTA 5 boring only played a few hours Saints 4 I finished in comparison.

Re: The GTA thread
yeah but thats the beauty of it, thats why saints row is fun its an obvious rip off of GTA before it got boring... and its carried on down the same path since just being stupid fun while GTA has tried to act all grown up and got worse in my opinion.

Re: The GTA thread
Saints Row is cheap and gimmicky. The games have no real thought put into them except a collection of ideas. And it's such a glitchy and buggy series. Saints Row 2 is the exception which was actually a decent game just before they went totally silly with the other sequels.
I'm just bored of these city gang open world games in general though. They have never really appealed to me. I did obviously get very hooked on Sleeping Dogs which is very similar gameplay wise but I think the setting and depth if culture really made that game stand out.

I'll be getting GTA V on PS4 as I withheld from playing it on last gen. It helps that my birthday is a few days after release so I'll be dropping heavy hints between now and then ;-)

Nah, it wasn't even my favourite GTA game. Besides it still hasn't got a nailed down release date and by the time is does come out there should finally be some decent new games available.

Re: The GTA thread
Saints Row gets better the more it embraces the outrageous. I thoroughly enjoyed Saints Row 4, becoming what was essentially a superhero made it ridiculously good fun to play.

I'll buy it again. Have a look at the comparison trailer if you're not aware of how much better it looks.
They're also updating the radio stations so there will be some new content there. And of course when the eventual single player expansions come out I would like to play them on PS4 instead of turning my Xbox on

Yeah potential DLC is something to consider and I have thought about that.
I'd probably get the PC version if I did get the upgraded version at all.

Re: The GTA thread
PS4 and Xbox One versions of GTAV will be released worldwide on November 18th this year it has been confirmed, the PC version wont be out until 27th January next year though. Along with numerous graphical upgrades there will also be extra content for anybody who previously played the game on last gen consoles in the form of vehicles, weapons and activities.

Re: The GTA thread
Still need to find the want to finish this on 360 so I'll be giving this re-release a miss.
Re: The GTA thread
Yeah me too, I've already played it anyway and Far Cry 4's out the same week. That's where my money is going.

Re: The GTA thread
I've always wondered what GTA would be like as a first-person game and now we'll know.
It's made me a little more interested in picking it up but still doubt I will. At least this is a genuine addition to the game rather than just looking better.

Re: The GTA thread
I think the first person may be handy in combat situations but I'm pretty sure I'll play the game in traditional third person mode.
In other news, Rockstar have released some more videos showing the graphical uplift in the PS4 version and it's looking mighty fine.

Playing GTA V on PS4. The best thing so far has been having the mobile phone conversations and cop radio play out of the Dualshock which is a very nice touch. As for the gameplay (only 2 hours in) it's all very standard GTA stuff, nothing new yet.
Oh, and the first person view is ace in shooting situations, but rubbish in normal gameplay.

Re: The GTA thread
I know that I'm getting GTAV on PS4 for Christmas from the girlfriend, so I'm looking forward to trying out first person mode. As you say though it's probably better in some circumstances than others.

Re: The GTA thread
I got it for the PS4 on a whim. Basically because I had a chance to get a new sealed copy for 39.99... Didn't get into it on the ps3 but surprised to say I am enjoying playing it now and then on PS4... may need to alter my opinion on it. I still think 4 was a big pile of crap though.
