Re: General TV thread
I've started on the Spartacus tv show and I'm impressed. I'm willing to wave away the crummy special effects and weird direction choices and blood splatter because for the most part it shows a gritty, albeit highly sexualised version of Roman life rarely seen on screen.
The only major issue I have with it so far is for the show's constant need to have a topless woman or three in every crowd shot. Usually coupled with two people going at it in one of the corners of the screen.

Watched SHIELD season three.
I do like and enjoy SHIELD but there are occasions where I think that it could benefit from being a couple of episodes shorter per season.

I watched them all years ago when they were first made. To be fair they don't skimp on the male full frontal nudity either, as you'll see if you carry on watching. BTW the actor playing Spartacus in series 1 had to be replaced in series 2 after he sadly died from non-Hodgkin lymphoma, aged just 40, in 2011.

Re: General TV thread
Spartacus is excellent. Very over the top with the gore and nudity but it tells a cracking story and it tells it very well.

Yeah I remember hearing about it back when it happened. It's a real shame, he was a really good actor.

The Good Wife season seven, the final one.
A bit hit and miss compared to earlier seasons but ended strongly and had a good final episode.

Hannibal seasons one to three, the complete series.
Season one was good and the first half of season two was better. Second half of season two and first half of season three was meh to terrible whilst the second half of season three was good again.
I'm pleased that I watched it but you have to want to watch it to stick with it.

Elfen Lied.
Was OK and starts off strong but even at thirteen episodes parts of it seemed to drag.

Magi: The Adventures of Sinbad.
Enjoyed this. A little uneven but still worth a watch.

Re: General TV thread
Finished Arrow series 2 last night and really enjoyed it - one of the best shows on tv at the moment. It did have a bit of a rubbish finale as they clearly knew series 3 was coming so some plots just hung there rather than were completed but that's fine as I have series 3 DVD already to go! There were a few too many annoying characters overall, like Black Canary but still great. Looking forward to watching Arrow 3 and The Flash in chronological order.

Sword Art Online season one.
Enjoyed it apart from the weird incest storyline in the second part of the season.

Tokyo Ghoul season one.
Has pacing issues and the ending was damn annoying but can see why it ended there with it having a second season.

The first three episodes of Class, the Doctor Who spin-off.
I quite like it, a bit darker than I was expecting but has some interesting stuff going on.

Brooklyn Nine Nine season three.
Didn't think as strong as the first two seasons but still enjoyable.

This is England 90.
Great series but somehow I always manage to forget just how bleak they can be.

Watched the first episode of series two of Episodes. Watched the first series when it first aired and thought it was OK, thought this episode was only OK so not going to bother with the rest.
Also watched the first three episodes of Schitts Creek. It can be funny but just feels like it is lacking something. Might give it another couple of episodes.

The Strange Calls.
A six episode Australian programme about a police officer and an elderly man in a small town investigating supernatural cases. It's more of a 25-30 min comedy drama rather than like The X-Files.
It's not massively funny but I think worth a watch.

Vikings season four part two.
Two absolutely brilliant episodes in numbers four and five and then the rest, just really hit and miss. I really like watching this and yes it has problems but they were really magnified in these ten episodes.
