Re: Resident Evil Mega Thread
Revelations has an episodic structure too which I couldn't see the point of. It even had a 'previously on...' bit inbetween levels which was pointless if you just jumped from one level straight to the next. At least with Resi Rev 2 the episode structure makes more sense.

It was good though if you played a few levels then strayed away and came back ..... It was really useful for me because of my epilepsy medicine my memory is rubbish so it served as a nice reminder even if Id only been away from it for a day or two it jogged my old grey cells back up to speed

Full teaser for Revelations 2. Has various secrets and easter eggs in it.
Re: Resident Evil Mega Thread
Info on the Revelations 2 myriad purchase options. Depending on the price, the boxed version would be my preference, but the season pass, with swift release dates for the individual episodes doesn't sound too bad.
The episodes will cost £4.99 / €5.99 / $5.99 each, and are scheduled for release on the following dates:

- Episode 1 - Feb 17 (PS US), Feb 18 (PS EU, Xbox Global, Steam)

- Episode 3 - Mar 3 (PS US), Mar 4 (PS EU, Xbox Global, Steam)
- Episode 4 - Mar 10 (PS US), Mar 11 (PS EU, Xbox Global, Steam)
Players will also be able to buy a Complete Season pass for £19.99 / €24.99 / $24.99, which features all four episodes as well as two bonus spin-off episodes that tell the stories of new characters Moira Burton and Natalia Korda, and a bonus Raid mode character, Hunk.
Capcom will then release a boxed version of Revelations 2 on March 13 in Europe: this will feature all of the above (all four episodes, the bonus episodes and Hunk) as well as Albert Wesker for Raid mode, four alternative costumes and a Raid mode Throwback Stage Pack featuring four stages from recent Resident Evil titles.
All the bonus episodes and content will be also available to buy as separate DLC for players who chose to buy the episodes individually.

Re: Resident Evil Mega Thread
I stuck in my PSN pre order for this. It doesn't take the money straight away, which annoys me, as I had it in my PSN wallet ready for it to take. Now I have to make sure I keep that money in there until Feb...

Re: Resident Evil Mega Thread
Seems like RE Revelations 2 could be offline co-op only rather than online as well. That sucks.

Resident Evil 4
Today is the tenth anniversary of this absolutely fantastic game.
I own both the Cube and Wii versions and whilst I've yet to play through the Wii version I absolutely love the Cube game and have completed it numerous times.
What are ya buying?

The Wii controls for RE4 are brilliant. One of the better versions in my opinion.

I second this!MarkySharky wrote:The Wii controls for RE4 are brilliant. One of the better versions in my opinion.
I enjoyed the Gamcube version but found things like aiming horrendously fiddly, on the Wii it was a nice implementation of the Wiimote that worked with its limitations.
Re: Resident Evil Mega Thread
Don't get me wrong, the controls were fine when the game was released and still are but I feel the Wii controls actually added something to the game rather than just another generic re-release.
Re: Resident Evil Mega Thread
I completed Gamecube RE4 9 times in a row (ah, the days when I had limited disposable income and nothing else to play...) and have fantastic memories of it. It was one of the games that was absolutely amazing despite having already watched countless gameplay videos about it and read untold numbers of reviews.
I was sceptical about the Wii version at first but the controls really are brilliant. The fact that it also includes all the extra stuff that came with the PC and PS2 ports just makes it all the sweeter.

Re: Resident Evil Mega Thread
Resi 4 could quite possibly be the game that gave me the gaming bug. I always played games (mostly Nintendo, but did have a Mega Drive) when I was younger, but it wasn't my primary go-to hobby. I picked up a Gamecube, but only due to a good package deal, and it sat mostly unplayed...
...until I went round a friend's house and he had picked up Resi 4, and I was instantly hooked. It just felt so visceral and scary, especially that opening section with the chainsaw. I went out the next day. It was that moment when I realised that games could deliver an experience like a movie - and to be fair that's still the experience I still try to get with the games I like and play, as an interactive movie.
It did also help that it was a great year for games, as around the same time I played God of War, Black, Lego Star Wars, and with all these great gaming I suddenly found myself hooked.
But the cornerstone for that was Resi 4, where I suddenly noticed how adult gaming could be, and that it could offer something unique. (and it was GRAW2 that opened my eyes to online gaming...but that's a different story.) It's been fun to think back to then. 10 years...

Re: Resident Evil Mega Thread
Was a bit confused as to where my thread went.
I absolutely love Resi 4, it's such a fantastic game. It's still got jumps but also the out and out action like the village section at the beginning of the game, I could play that bit over and over and still be happy.
Despite owning them I've yet to play five and six but sounds like Capcom somehow went wrong with them.
On a side note I picked up Mercenaries on the 3DS.

Re: Resident Evil Mega Thread
I will skip the remake until it comes cheaper. It's a game I've bought many times over as it is.
I recommend Resi 5...especially with a coop partner. Even 6 is worth playing to experience such a woeful game!
