Re: Drive Club
I agree with Wolvie. I'll definitely be getting the PS+ version, as there's no loss to me in doing so. I'm not a big driving fan, so it'll probably scratch my driving itch. I think a few more months in development would've probably improved the game overall, but I suppose there's got to be a cut off at some point when you're nearly a year late anyway.

Re: Drive Club
Exactly! Got to try the free version at least if you have even a slight interest in racing games.
Re: Drive Club
It seems that the PS+ version has been delayed again due to server issues, not sure for how long. Clusterfuck springs to mind

This seems to me massively predictable (and therefore avoidable). Project management 101 - Manage your risks, ffs

Yes, this is a bit ridiculous now. We're quite a level headed bunch of gamers on this forum - I can't imagine the vitriol that is being spouted on other, lesser gaming forums.

Re: Drive Club
What with the delay to the PS Plus version I just decided to buy this off the bat. With Reward points I got £35 PSN credit pretty cheap from Game at a price I'm more than happy with.
Now doing my first ever PSN preload!

Re: Drive Club
I noticed today that my local town was full of second hand copies of it, in every game shop, pawn store etc ... only bad side was that they were only like 5quid of what a new copy is anyways, still one of the quickest game dumpings I have seen

I often gauge the quality of a game by how quickly, and in what quantity, it appears on the shelves of CEX.

Re: Drive Club
So, Driveclub.
My view is that if you like PGR, you'll love this. It almost feels like a spiritual successor in a way.
The handling is great and fun. It requires precise braking and throttle control, without being a full on sim that requires absolute perfection. I'd go as far as to say it's best in class at the moment. As someone who hasn't played a racing game since the PS4 launched it's an absolute no brainer. Really scratches that itch.
The AI have got a lot of stick in the reviews, but if you ask me, most of the time you're racing them without thinking about it, which is a good sign I guess. I mean, compared to some AI, like Codemasters F1 for example who can't effect a pass even with massive overspeed, they are leagues ahead.
They're by no means perfect, but if you race clean and think about where you're placing the car you likely won't run in to trouble that often. Those who go in aggressive will likely get what they give.
The car modelling is absolutely fabulous, but curiously omitted is the cockpit explore mode that was shown off prior to release. There's 55 in total. Some people have said that's not a lot but I haven't got close to driving all of them extensively yet.
Anyway, if you're a racing fan you will like this game. Obviously it has been and still is mostly broken with regards to online, and this is probably what is responsible for all the second hand copies on shelves, but when it's been working it looks like really good fun.
From what I gathered from the reviews a lot of them seemed to be written by people who seemingly hate racing games and expected some open world Need For Speed type gimmicks, and actually a couple I saw (Giant Bomb) were just factually wrong in some instances.
Obviously the PS+ version will be a great chance for everyone to see what they think anyway.

Re: Drive Club
I do remember liking PGR4 an awful lot. Not my favourite racing series but I hope the handling is a bit more realistic. I never liked the Kudos system.

Re: Drive Club
Still no sign of the PS+ edition, the latest from Evolution is that there'll be another update about it when more "concrete info" is available. Which sounds suspiciously like not anytime soon to me.
