PlayStation 4
Fed up of that blue background on the PS4 dashboard? Well good news if you are, custom themes are coming to the console as part of the version 2.0 firmware update.
Meanwhile it looks like the rumours that Beyond: Two Souls would be the next PS3 game to get ported to PS4 could be true if this leaked Trophy list is correct.

Themes for everyone!
It's one of those little things that can make a big difference. Allows you to make the console more your own thing.

I can't say I'm that bothered by themes, I'll get more excited when/if Sony ever get around to giving us folders. I don't even have too many games on the PS4 but I'm already pissed off by having to scroll constantly to get to the one I want, plus it's an unsightly mess as it is.

Re: PlayStation 4
Themes are cool. I like to decorate my background with the game I'm currently playing. But the themes will need to be free I ain't paying for them.
I agree with TPM that the menu could do with some tweaking. I don't want some of the icons to keep shuffling to the front of the line each time I use them. Some way to lock them in place would be good or to organise another line for non gaming icons.

Agree with TPM regarding folders - and it would be so simple to implement too. Regarding themes, I'll see which ones I get free with PSN+ but I doubt I'd ever pay for any.

I like my TLoU theme on PS3 and doing something similar on PS4 would be good. Not something I'm overly worked up about though.

I'd like to see your games library given it's own section, I don't like them being lumped in with all the other apps. I don't even like games being called apps.

Re: PlayStation 4
Agreed and I think its an obvious update which will follow before to long.
Custom themes should be easy to do as well as long as we can access the folder.

Re: PlayStation 4
Just did about 30mins worth of Remote Play based Destiny from work to my PS4 at home
The only issue I had really was with the router at work which I sorted. Super impressed and I know what I will be doing on my lunch breaks from now on!

Re: PlayStation 4
Sony has announced the PS4's next big firmware update will be released next week on October 28th, the V2.0 update will include things like a USB music player, dashboard themes and customisation, an enhanced YouTube app and Share Play. This allows players to remotely watch and play their friends games via streaming.
It's a potentially great feature that would for example allow you to try a game you're not sure about before splashing out, providing one of your friends has a copy of course, or even watch how a particularly tricky section of a game you've been stuck on is cleared without searching online for tips.
EDIT:
Since discovered that both players will need PS+ subscriptions to use the Share Play features. Pity it's going to be behind a paywall but I suppose it will sell more PS+ subs.

Re: PlayStation 4
So can anyone tell me where I can find my saved videos since the new update? The capture gallery doesn't seem to be under the profile section, as it was before.

Apparently you can find captures under each game's tile on the home screen. Down the bottom I think. Haven't looked myself.

You might like to know there are now three free dynamic themes available in the store if you're interested - Spiral, Rectangular and Paper Sculpture - they're all pretty snazzy and give you new background music and sound effects as well as visuals. Rectangular is my favourite.

Re: PlayStation 4
Forgot to post this the other week because things were to hectic.
But the new SingStar for PS3 and PS4 is out now along with SingStar Ultimate Party for both which is the shiny new disc version.
I know it is everyone's favourite game so go buy it now!
You can spot my name in the credits of the disc version (we only did tech credits on the digital client because that's an ongoing thing ) and I'm quite near the top which is rather cool unlike my other games at Sony were I'm burred in the credits at around the 15min mark!

Re: PlayStation 4
Well done Cal! I'm unlikely to buy the game and see it personally (unless someone posts a credits video on YouTube!) but it's still an achievement all the same.

Nope - Capture Gallery now has its own square on the main menu line. Mine was hidden in the library, but once clicked, it jumps straight to the front, and is on the main menu line. This annoys me greatly.
I much prefer this layout to Xbox, but I still want just my games to appear on that main menu line. Any apps, or options, or videos can go elsewhere please. The fact this still isn't customisable is still bollocks.

Yes, it was the easiest thing ever. Loads of YouTube videos show how to do it. I put in a 1TB hybrid drive and it's sweet as a nut.kerr9000 wrote:Anyone updated the Hardrive yet?
Talking PS4 - has anybody successfully used Share Play? Me and my mate have tried a few times and get "network is too slow"....but I'm on a 10Mbs line. Anybody?

Re: PlayStation 4
Me and a relative of mine tried it the other day because he wanted to try The Evil Within but we couldn't get it to work either for the same reason. My line's supposed to be "up to 20Mbs" but in actuality it's usually about the same as yours.

Had a look and you can in fact find captures under each game tile - just scroll down to related items and all of that game's captures are there.
With regards to SharePlay - your download speed is pretty much immaterial. It's the upload that matters. If you're on a 10mbps line then your upload is probably not above 1mbps. It seems you need about 3mbps for it to work.
If you've got a friend who's got fibre or who has a good upload speed then you'll be able to play if they host, you just won't be able to host one yourself.

That's me screwed then because my upload speed is shite, took me over an hour to upload a 4 minute, 211Mb gameplay video to YouTube the other day!
