Re: Now Playing
I really enjoyed God of War 3, it has some truly epic moments in it.MarkySharky wrote:Finally started playing God of War 3.
As for me I made a start on Max and The Curse of the Brotherhood yesterday afternoon and instantly fell in love with the game. It is a great mix of old school platforming with puzzles and some adventure games' style logic thrown in for good measure. It also has a brilliant mechanic that see you interacting with and drawing objects in the game world with a Magic magicmarker Not overly taxing but very good fun!
Re: Now Playing
I recall playing GoW 3 and even enjoyed it but it must have been so unmemorable as I cannot think of a single level or set piece. Maybe I should play it again.

Re: Now Playing
Had loads of unused PSN credit so I've downloaded Double Dragon Neon. This is my first Double Dragon game and after a rocky initial play (where I was awful!) I'm into a the groove a bit more and really enjoying it. The 80's look and music is a brilliant touch so it's a shame that the game blasts you off into space as early as the third level!

The formula starts to feel a little tired now and not too varied.Wolvieware wrote:I recall playing GoW 3 and even enjoyed it but it must have been so unmemorable as I cannot think of a single level or set piece. Maybe I should play it again.
However, it's still a lot of fun and I love the mythology.

(SPOILERS MARKY!!!!)
This reminds me, I need to play Ascension! I played the first level, liked it then got distracted
Re: Now Playing
As part of my New Year thing to play/finish up a load of my PS3 Collection I've recently returned to Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Alpha Protocol, both games that I enjoyed immensely when I played them a few years back in my 360 days. Also recently finished up the latest run on L.A. Noire, although I could do more in the respect of a trophy mop-up when time allows for it.
Given the above discussion, it's worth noting that both God of War 3 and Ascension are on that list of games I need to return to.

I need to play Ascension still, however, since a number of releases on PS4, I haven't actually played my PS3 for a good few months now.I have finally started to turn to my PS4 automatically when I go to play games, due to the number of in progress games I have for it finally. It's taken a little while, but I've built up a relatively small PS4 pile of shame!

Re: Now Playing
Made a start on Duke Nukem 3D for the Vita and I am enjoying revisiting my youth. The gameplay holds up surprisingly well compared to modern games.
Re: Now Playing
I found Duke Nukem vita too old skool for my tastes (and have deleted it). Back then, i didn't really play FPSs as they gave me motion sickness. That has disappeared over the years (maybe because the graphics are better and smoother now?) but consequently I don't have any nostalgia vibe for Duke (or Doom for that matter).

Re: Now Playing
Ive owned it a long time started it about a year ago, but suddenly it has really grabbed me, I am basically one set of levels away from the end and have been putting about 3 hours a night into it for the last few nights. It is enjoyable but I have found parts of it to be super super hard.

Re: Now Playing
A friend of mine lent me a copy of Shadow Warrior, a game I didn't really know much about, saying it's pretty good and he's right, it's a lot of fun. It's a first person shooter/hack em' up - you can use guns and a Katana - and it's intentionally OTT and tongue in cheek, the hero is called Lo Wang and answers the phone in the opening cut scene with "you got Wang!"
The gameplay is deceptively straightforward shooter stuff, I say deceptively because there's actually an extensive skill tree to upgrade using earned Karma and Ki points, weapons can be upgraded too using cash that can be found lying around the levels. The closest comparison I can think of in terms of the style and tone of the game is Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.
It looks really nice too, with colourful, chunky graphics and runs nice and smooth, some excellent lighting effects too. Well worth checking out, it can be picked pretty cheaply at the moment as well, my buddy said he got it from ShopTo for just £14! Bargain.

Re: Now Playing
Still playing a lot of Dragon Age Inquisition.
I haven't finished the single player campaign yet but only have a few quests left, however, for some reason the multiplayer has really got its hooks into me. So much so, that every time I stick the disc in to wind up the campaign I end up getting drawn into a few more hours of co-op action. I wouldn't be surprised if I've spent more time on that than the single player stuff .
Obviously has its drawbacks, especially when playing a lot of sessions with randoms and I never fail to be shocked at how awful some players are. I am gradually adding a few of the better players for operations on the higher difficulties (I spent the first couple of months, scared shitless of trying Perilous but have done a few runs now). Due to some of the gear I've got, and to stop me getting irritated by the stupidity of others, I've also started running (and completing) some solo operations too, although I'm not sure that is what Bioware had in mind with this game mode

I have returned to Castlevania on the GBA.
Stopped playing as got stuck on a boss, went back earlier on and killed it first time. Then died in a poison room trying to get a save point so had to kill it again.

Re: Now Playing
Yeah Im bashing away at Forza 5 myself ...then a little bit of all sorts of other things. The PS4 is the machine I haven't touched in an age, someone always seems to want to use the telly its hooked up to. (I could hook it up to a diffrent one but would have to move something else etc)

Re: Now Playing
I'm playing Far Cry 4, Ass Creed Unity and FIFA15 in equal amounts on PS4.
I've also returned to Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword on Wii. I'd got 48 hours in before giving up (my previous save was March 2013!) but picked it up again a couple of weekends ago. It is very much a weekend game - not one for work nights! I've put in another 10 hours over the last two weekends and am reasonably close to the end, I think. A great game and still beautiful to look at, even though its last gen. And it'll fine tune my Zelda skills before Majora's Mask, which I've pre-ordered, is released in a couple of weeks.
On Vita I'm playing a bit of OlliOlli and Broken Sword, both good games.

Currently Grim Fandango across my PS4 and Vita and I'm loving it!
I only had a demo of it when I was a kid so finally getting to play the full game is great

Re: Now Playing
I bought the PS4 version of Tomb Raider and have turned away from the charms of Unity and FC4 to give it a go. I'd completed the 360 version a couple of years ago, so it's nothing new but playing it again reminds me how good a game it is. And the PS4 version is very very pretty to look at (not that the 360 was an ugly beast).
I also had a go at Apotheon. Hmm. I love the art style but the gameplay seems a bit dull.

Re: Now Playing
Been trying some of the new PS+ titles. Rogue Legacy isn't really my cup of tea, Apotheon is really good though, sort of like a 2D God Of War crossed with Guacamelee and has a lovely art design. Kick & Fennick is a neat little platformer too with an interesting central game mechanic, instead of jumping you use a gun to propel you in whichever direction you want to go.
