Re: Now Playing
And I WAS inspired to go back to Joe Danger! I'd forgotten how much fun this game is. I' urge everyone with a PS Vita to now download it while its free. I actually think the sequel is slightly better, too.
But I remembered I've not actually completed either title. The first is surprisingly difficult, and I'm struggling to unlock the next level. In the second, I need to go complete some more side mission stuff before the next level unlocks, and I got distracted, and never went back. I will try and finish this sequel off, but I fear the original might be too hard for me.

Velocity 2X has got its hooks into me. It is a superb game! The constant changing of the control scheme can be a bit annoying but apart from that it is a blast.
Re: Now Playing
Inspired by my recent play through of First Light I've decided to try and find time to do the Evil runs through the three main inFAMOUS games. Something I've been intending to do for a while.
How far I get largely depends on Tale of Xillia 2 which has so much extra content (largely fetch quests or hunting quests) and is a real love letter to the fans, that after 55hrs I still don't believe I'm anywhere near the end. I've also only paid off 20% of the 20million debt .
Also ran through the final DLC for Muramasa Rebirth which was finally released last week, good stuff again and all I need to do is find time for the trophy mop-up. Already have the Platinum but getting the 100% would be great.
Sadly means that I've not put any significant time into Madden '15..........yet!

Re: Now Playing
I'm half way through (that is, completed 25 of the 50 levels) of Velocity 2X. I was a massive fan of Velocity Ultra and this is basically a continuation of that game....in fact, I swear some of the levels are exactly the same. Still, they've refined things in the right places. The "on-foot" sections are OK but not great. There's a load of challenge in the game if you look for it because completing each level with a "Perfect" score takes quite a lot of skill and are probably beyond my feeble twitch skill ability.
I'm playing it on Vita but I'm curious to see how it looks on the big screen on PS4. Anybody checked yet?

Re: Now Playing
I am literally downloading Velocity 2X as a type this (and Joe Danger and the Jeff Minter game), after the obligatory PS+ led tidying up of my memory cards.
I'm still plugging away at Black Flag - til gone 3am this morning, because there's another 'well, I could just do X before stopping' moment.
I'm also upping my handheld time now that X Factor is back. Paper Mario last night, maybe a Vita game tonight.

It looks good on PS4 but you can tell it was designed with the Vita in mind. On PS4 everything is just bigger and slightly sharper. This includes the UI.CPC6128 wrote:I'm half way through (that is, completed 25 of the 50 levels) of Velocity 2X. I'm happy using cloud save to switch between the two

Re: Now Playing
Now playing Playstation All Stars Battle Royale. I thought I'd just give this a try as it was the PS+ game, but I've never really liked Super Smash Bros, so not too sure I would like this anyway. I get the appeal though - it is cool to have this iconic characters in the same game, and the fan service is really good, with each character feeling authentic, with levels inspired by the games, good special moves and music. It is a gaming celebration. Its just a shame that the actual gameplay is just so crap. It's so chaotic, and I never really feel in control. On top of that, this game's menu just looks hideous and there are long loading times. Glad it was free! I might still play it a bit if I get some spare time, as it could fill in some gaps between games quite well.

If you can get four people in the same room playing it then it is a great group game.Wolvieware wrote:Now playing Playstation All Stars Battle Royale. I don't even have four controllers! I looked for an online game though and day for ages on the searching page...
I was kinda tempted by the Isaac Clarke DLC though.
Maybe this is another game we could try and arrange an online session for.

Re: Now Playing
Going through a gaming lull at the moment and really struggling to get into anything, doesn't help that my next new game isn't due until October 31st.
As a result, I've been attempting to work on the backlog, however, I am jumping between a few games, in the hope that something sticks.
inFamous: Evil playthrough (stupid blast shards)
Arkham City: seem to remember being disappointed first time around, time for another chance
Rayman Origins: still prefer this to Legends but need to find my platforming skills again
Madden '15: having a real love/hate relationship with this, as per usual
MLB The Show '13: still one of the best sports franchises out there, IMO
Everybody's Golf (Vita)
The way things are at the moment, I won't be surprised if the above list is completely different in a few days

I just keep playing small bits of Strider ... then of course I am playing a SNES game a day...
I brought Watchdogs for PS4 from a pawn store yesterday for £15 (did really well as the ps4 content download code hadn't been used) so I really should give this a crack

Re: Now Playing
Grabbed The Banner Saga on my iPhone yestyrday because I liked the look of the PC version when that was released. I was waiting for a console version but I saw it an impulse bought it.
I love this game!
It's a proper tactical RPG with a great narrative focus were your choices actually matter. The art style has this great 90s quality to it and the setting very norse so I'm digging it a lot.
I recommend checking it out: http://stoicstudio.com/
The only downside is that it is a straight port of the PC version so the touch controls can be a bit fiddly at times even on my 6 Plus' screen.

Re: Now Playing
Still playing the really enjoyable Shadow of Mordor, I'm closing in on the end of the main campaign but because I really don't want the game to end I'm spending quite a bit of time doing the extra curricular activities and also having a lot of fun manipulating various enemy Captains c/o the Nemesis system.
I've also returned to Rainbow Moon today, inspired by the appearance of the Vita version c/o PS+. I've had the game for a couple of years but never got far before it got shelved for some bright shiny new thing, that was criminal. The game is just fucking brilliant. A nice challenge, moreso because for some bizarre reason I started on Hard difficulty, it works really well on Vita and is a perfect fit. It's also the first time I've actually played a game using the cross-save feature . Hopefully I don't get sidetracked again because the game deserves better.
Other than those above, still dabbling with Madden '15 too and I'm currently in a 'love it' phase, helped by the recent tuning update which seems to have corrected some of the issues which, IMO, were dragging the game down.

Re: Now Playing
Now paying Alien Isolation. Woo! But the opening was a bit rushed and bitty and the cutscenes shocked with their juddering. But in the game proper it looks lovely and is smooth with excellent sound effects. After settling in it picked up and I found my groove. It is atmospheric and has some nice Alien references and touches. But it mostly feels like Dead Space 2 to be honest. But no bad thing. Lots if exploration and looting and not much action so far but I enjoy this slow build up...and look forward to seeing an alien...

I'm also playing Alien Isolation and loving it (other than those juddery cut scenes - weird). I've never played DS2 (in my pile of shame), so it's fresh to me.
It's a labour of love for the Alien movie, that's for sure.

Re: Now Playing
The Evil Within - PS4. I pre-ordered this ages ago on a whim, late last year I think it was, and I came close to cancelling it a couple of times after some less than stellar previews and then the news that the review embargo wouldn't be lifted until release day, but I'm glad I didn't, it's actually not bad at all.
It's a very much old school survival horror and doesn't really offer anything new, although the way you save and upgrade is interesting. Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami is at the helm, so it has has good credentials, and the style is more Resident Evil 4 than 5 & 6, which can only be a good thing. I've only played the first couple of levels but I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would, which makes a nice change from eagerly awaiting a game only to be a bit disappointed, which has happened a lot this year. The only thing I'm not keen on is it's movie style wide screen presentation, with big black borders top and bottom of the screen, but it's something I can live with.
It looks to be a solid game, it controls OK, is well presented and has some suitably grisly visuals and I'm looking forward to getting more into it.

The only thing I've been playing for the last 2 weeks is Destiny and Battlefield 4. I just haven't been interested in playing any single player games.
