Destiny
Just so I know, how many of us are actually getting Destiny?
PS. Had to make this the title thread as had to be at least 10 characters!

Re: Destiny
I'm not in. There's something about this game that just hasn't appealed to me.

Re: Destiny
Not decided yet, it's not really my thing to be honest but I might be willing to try it if it turns out to be exceptional.

As I've said I'm not that fussed about Destiny but it's release is significant because it officially marks the end of the summer games drought! Yay! I need new games!!

Except that Tales of Xillia 2 and Madden '15 marked that occasion already
With that said, given the lack of quality releases for the rest of the year ahead, I'd argue that the summer drought has been extended to include autumn and winter.

I'm excited that Destiny comes out tomorrow. Not that I'll be playing it, it's just been so long since a "big" game has been out.

TBF, judging by the beta there's hardly much in the way of story to spoil anyway

Re: Destiny
I'm reading elsewhere that if you buy the digital PS3 version you get the PS4 version free (likewise Xbox 360/XBone). Nice touch Bungie ;-)

Re: Destiny
After talking to people who got their copies yesterday, I've been persuaded to get it. Probably wont be until the weekend though.

Re: Destiny
I was going to get it but there was a power cut here followed by the power surging back... thank goodness 99% of stuff in the house was totally undamaged but the surge did kill my Modified Super Nintendo... First time this has ever happened with a Nintendo console ... I did once have it happen with an Original playstation.
There is a fuse to protect the consoles from this but the Nintendo one is tiny and soldered in place ...so I had to buy a solder gun, some solder for now I have got low amp fuse wire but also have the proper fuse on its way in the post ....all of this cost me like £15 ....that and other day to day costs and bills has pushed me back a bit (daughters trainers fell apart and needed replacing etc)... So Ill be watching all these threads going darn lol

Re: Destiny
Just read the first full and final review I've come across to date, on Metro's Gamecentral. Overall they were disappointed, praising the technical aspects of the game but saying it's lacking in scale, variety and ambition. Their summing up is:
In Short: It's not short of spectacle but in terms of innovation and variety this is nowhere near as forward thinking as Bungie would like to pretend.
Pros: The gunplay is expertly crafted to keep you playing. Fantastic music and art design, with some stunning visuals. Mountains of content and great co-op.
Cons: Repetitive enemies, non-existent set-pieces and terrible bosses. No new ideas and overly simplistic RPG and customisation elements. Almost zero plot.
Score: 7/10.

Still in two minds whether to get it or not.

Re: Destiny
I've only played a couple of hours but from this, Alpha and Beta play I would agree.
However, that's what I was expecting so not disappointed. To me, 50% of the game experience is made by playing with and working with others.

Pretty much matches up with a lot of the early initial opinions of those that have the game and some other early reviews/belated previews I've seen.
More alarming is the fact that some are surprised that this isn't as ground-breaking as Bungie (and others) would have you believe, I thought it was fucking obvious from the beta.

Re: Destiny
The main issues the reviews that are slowly coming out have is that they are so rushed. Reviewers are just speeding through the game and not really getting the full experience. Also seeing as Destiny is going down the continual events/updates route they aren't taking that into account.
The first events are starting this week and because they aren't there day one, they don't count.
I would say with a game like this you can't really give an informed opinion until after a couple of weeks minimum.
