Doctor Who Empty Doctor Who

Post by kerr9000 Sun Aug 17, 2014 10:24 am

So not long now until the new series, anyone else looking forward to it?

Im looking forward to Peter Capaldi's debut

It has also been announced recently that Jenna-Louise Coleman is leaving at Christmas so there will be an opening for a new companion.... while I didn't dislike her I do think a new companion for the new doctor will be a good thing, someone picked to fit with Capaldi.

I'm really looking forward to the new series. A new Doctor always brings a new dynamic and approach to the show!

I'm looking forward to it, too. Capaldi is a good actor and his characterisation, from what is available so far, seems less friendly - a return to a grumpy doctor, hopefully.

I'm at a wedding on Saturday, followed by a week's holiday, so I won't be watching it anytime soon though.

I cannot wait until next Saturday, I think and hope that Capaldi will knock it out of the park.

Have been avoiding all spoilers so will be going into the episodes blind.

I read that it hasn't been confirmed that Jenna-Louise Coleman has quit, all from a 'source' at the moment.

I think it will be true shes going.... but yeah its not concrete yet its all a source has said stuff.

I am like 99% certain Capaldi will be brilliant

I am hoping that he can get a companion who he can truly teach and guide... I would like him to have a relationship a bit like the one between the McCoy DR and Ace... a very teacher student kind of deal.

Bad points

I wasn't too keen on the opening music, bit screechy near the end.
I really liked the bad guy/robot, shame was underused but to be expected though looks like could be returning.

Good points

I thought Jenna Louise-Coleman was great and managed to make more of Clara than the past few episodes put together.
Capaldi was great during the end scenes as well. Couldn't quite warm to him at first due to the regeneration malarky throughout the episode.
Really liked some of the colours like how the restaurant was bright for them and dark for the robots.
The ambiguity of whether he killed the robot at the end.
11th Doctor Doctor Who Icon_biggrin Nice surprise when you avoid all the spoilers.

I really enjoyed it. It wasn't a prefect first episode for 12 but still an entertaining yarn. Loved Matt Smith's little bit and the overall theme of the episode.

The show seems to be taking a darker tone with this Doctor Which will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Now caught up with the first ep afger returning from holiday (but not last night's).  I wasn't sure at first, but regeneration episodes can be a bit flakey.  I warmed to Capaldi after the first 20 minutes or so and it ended quite an emotional episode.  i like the new version of the title music and the intro sequence

I really enjoyed Into The Dalek. It was a fun ep that did a lot to flesh out Capaldi's Doctor. Also it is good to see the writers are making the effort to make Clara and actual person rather than just an enigma for the Doctor to solve.

Yeah I liked it as well, felt like we learned even more about the Daleks but it also told us a lot about the new Doctor, the way he see's himself, what he is worried about, his hopes his beliefs etc

I fell on the other side for Into the Dalek.

Thought it was a bit meh bar a couple of bits.

Robots of Sherwood I enjoyed in a silly way.

Wasn't sure how I felt about Listen on first viewing but after a few days I now think that it was a really good episode.

Apart from the rushed ending I enjoyed this weeks episode.

The Teller was a great 'bad' guy.

I liked this weekend's ep but two things annoyed me:
1) the shitty way they superimposed the wolves eyes into the bushes looked utter crap and didn't match any of the wolves being used.
2) the rushed and pointless ending bit with the girl's sister sitting in a bush...

Anyway this week see's the beginning of the Finale! WOOOOOO!

I agree about the ending, you knew that it was coming but it was so rushed and badly done that it just had no emotional feel to it at all.

Really cannot wait for tonight's episode after watching the online clip yesterday. Next weeks second part will be an hour long, hurrah.
