Big update coming up this week.  The most notable features being the fixing of the tiny text and stopping Geralt interacting with candles when next to something else to interact with.  Yay!

They are also fixing the xp glitch which has certainly affected me this weekend!

I've since hit level 8 and my game has exploded - I have more locations on the map and many missions in my quest log. It's got to an exciting place where have a lot of variety going on and plenty of choice. It's hard to turn the game off because there's always something to go for or do.

It's also worth noting how even side quests seem to expand in little mini adventures. So far there's been very little repetitiveness in objectives, and the stories are detailed and different. This is the best rpg I've ever played easily trumping Oblivion and Mass Effect.

Next dlc is armour and an elite crossbow which should come in handy. Although I came across my first barbers recently and was a bit disappointed with the hair and beard dlc options.

I haven't been able to put as much time into it I'd have liked but I'm still loving it. Just completed the Family Matters quest line and found out where Ciri  went, so I could move on to Novigrad now, but I've still got loads of secondary missions and contracts left in Velen so I'll probably hang around there for a while and do some of those first.

There's just so much to do in this game it's incredible, I can see me playing this all Summer.

Anyone else play Forefathers Eve mission? The pellar does a ritual to help spirits while you protect him from monsters. A human spirit appears just as human soldiers break the ritual up. Then my quest was complete! It seemed sudden and it didn't tell me about the spirit that appeared. How did this play out for others?

I haven't played that mission yet so I don't know. Maybe PH can shed some light?

I'm up to the same bit as you - completed the family affair mission which was good but I'm just clearing up on some missions before heading to skellige.

It's been a while since I did this quest so I may not remember it correctly, will try to check the quest log later on if further clarification is needed.

No I chose not to defend against the soldiers. It was a very unsatisfying conclusion but I have only myself to blame!

I did the same in that quest! It just ended so abruptly but I was quite pleased with my choice.  My Geralt is quite strict and follows his jobs/contracts to the letter.  I wasn't paid to fight them, so I didn't.

Wolvie, are you not going to Novigrad before Skellige?

Just done this quest. I chose to defend against the soldiers, which meant the quest carried on and I had to go to the swamp, find and burn the body of the Pellars father, then return to the Pellar to end the quest. I think you get reduced prices on his potion ingredients as a reward.

I'm still messing about in Velen at the moment. Did the Shrieker, Swamp Thing and Jenny O' The Woods contracts yesterday and assorted secondary quests and general exploring and found a cool new sword and a more powerful crossbow too, the crossbow is Lvl21 though and I'm currently Lvl12 so I can't use it for a while Crying or Very sad . I also concluded the quest line of the witch Keira Metz, which also unlocked a Trophy.  Smile

I might get a shift on and head to Novigrad now though.

On a separate note the latest free DLC is finally available here, it's not cheap to buy in game though. The whole armour set, including horse armour, is over 1,500 Crowns, I've currently only got about 700 and I've never had that much on me at one time since I started!

Apparently this sold 4 million in two weeks.

In an industry slowly being ruined by a growing number of devs/pubs who are just doing it wrong it's good to see that CDPR are being rewarded for their efforts. I can't think of a studio that serves it more.

Yeah just read that and it shows that a game can still do well without all the pre-order/retailer exclusive bonus bullshit that infects gaming today.

But it is still there. They have just packaged it as the free weekly DLC.

Wow! And I thought I was the cynical one Rolling Eyes

I'd say there's a pretty significant difference between the now standard bullshit pre-order and/or retailer specific bonuses and what CDPR have done, which in essence has given ALL players access to the additional content whether they've pre-ordered or not, gone to a specific retailer or not. Hell, even those that have purchased used copies of the game will still have access to that content.

Yes I have to agree with TPM. There is a difference between preorder bonus and what CD Project are doing. Also, I wish every game threw in a free soundtrack!

It is great that they're taking the approach they have but I just get this niggling feeling that is was planned as the usual bollocks and they changed their minds in the run up to announcing it.

Meanwhile the contents of the next free DLC has been revealed. It's a side quest called Fools Gold and a set of Gwent cards.

The final piece of free DLC has been announced, and it will be a New Game+ mode. Finally you'll be able to start a new game and keep all your stats etc. Should be available soon.

For those of you who have been crazy enough to complete this game already, here's what the upcoming NG+ DLC will mean for your current saves:

THIS STUFF CARRIES OVER:

  • All player EXP, including level (if lower than 30, you’ll be bumped up)
  • Inventory equipment, including Witcher gear sets
  • Stash items not covered in the ‘doesn’t carry over’ list
  • Alchemy crafting components
  • Alchemy recipes and crafting schematics
  • Money

THIS STUFF DOES NOT:

  • Consumables such as food and drink
  • Letters and books
  • Monster trophies
  • Quest items (such as Keira’s lamp or medallion)
  • Gwent cards, including those purchased
  • Difficulty level, you’ll be able to reselect it
  • Map items such as way-points, signposts etc.

Bit of a kicker about Gwent cards right?
