Re: Project Cars
I was thinking the other day that I fancy playing a realistic driving game on PS4. There's no other game type, IMO, that better evidences graphical advances between generations than a good driving game

Re: Project Cars
I have Need for speed rivals largely because its the only car game right now.... but I do like the cops and robbers idea when I am playing it, it makes me think of Chase HQ
Another car game is definitely needed

Re: Project Cars
The year might nearly be over but there's still time for at least one more game delayed announcement. Project Cars is the latest victim, now out March 2015.

Re: Project Cars
Best video I've seen for this yet. Looks like a top racer, and the best new racer to come out for years. Some of those cockpit views didn't look too hot though, but I guess they got time to spruce them up. Probably not quite a forza beater yet...

Re: Project Cars
Apparently the game will include four more tracks due to this delay: Spa Francorchamps, Brno, Willow Springs and Infineon Raceway. I reckon they were probably DLC plans, now being included with the main game to prevent further negative feedback (although personally, I don't really think delaying a title is negative...)

Spa had been in all the videos I'd seen of it anyway

Re: Project Cars
Stunning video! Looks like they have spruced up the in car view from previous vids. I wonder if the delay is in getting it on to the Xbox as I don't think it was originally announced for it?

Re: Project Cars
As a reward for fans putting up with the constant delays, Project Cars will be offering a free DLC car each month. The release schedule is TBA.

Re: Project Cars
I've sunk in a good few hours now and the disappointment hasn't quite left. The game is a technical marvel, with stunning graphics, truly dynamic weather and realistic AI. I would safely say it's the best technical racer ive ever played. So it's really poor that the devs have failed to do anything interesting with their tech. It's a boring slog through seasons of quali and two races per round. It's got boring fast especially as I still seem to be on karts and not getting offers for better tiers. But then the car garage is pitifully small too...
But then I ventured online...and it is easily the best online racer ever. It doesn't have that disjointed feeling between online and single player - they play the same and there seems to be a good community so far. There's idiots - I was robbed of a race win by someone deliberately crashing into me - but it's been exciting and lively and has made the game feel so much more rewarding.
The game is so good to drive and play with brilliant AI and it really feels like an authentic racing experience, replicating how real races play out in a simulator. Shans that the career mode is slow going and boring, not utilising the tech for the grand racing fans it could have been. Online so far has been this games saviour.

Re: Project Cars
The career has given me loads of variety. I'm only in my second season - Super Karts - and I haven't even got to race those yet. Been too busy doing invitationals.
I also don't think the slightly smaller car selection when compared to things like Forza is a problem. You spend so long learning the quirks of each car - I'm driving full-length practice and quali sessions most of the time - that you get the value out of them. And then you take it on a different track and it all starts again.
It is however still very disappointing that they couldn't get their game to control right with a pad. It really shouldn't take dicking around in the settings for a good half hour to get something you're happy with.

Re: Project Cars
There's more open wheeled cars than I expected but has good choice. It's more the lack of GT cars really. And I'm finding the career a bit dull - it's very same u in its set up. I always find season set ups to get a bit boring. The checklist races of Forza or the event based style of Drive Club gives more choice and less repetition. You choose an tier for a season and it seems you are stuck on it for ages. I'm just bored of karts already.

Well it's quite flexible in that regard, you can just skip most of it or shorten the lengths.

Re: Project Cars
Info gram on the games DLC plans. No season pass apparently, this is "on demand". Do they mean available separately as in before season passes were invented?!

Re: Project Cars
Two car packs out now - the limited edition upgrade plus another pack which includes 4 cars. With me thinking there's a lack of cars in the base game as it is, there's no way I will be getting these.

Re: Project Cars
That kind of annoys me.. announcing a sequel so soon and wanting it to be crowd funded ... yeah NO you had a full big retail game out, if it didnt make enough to secure a sequel dont come looking for other people to bail you out.

Re: Project Cars
I just wanted to trump this game a bit, because it has really grown on me, and a lot of my gaming time recently has been taken up with this, and partly responsible for the reason I've not started Arkham Knight yet. Having now put in 13 on-track hours, the game has started to open up a bit, certainly career wise. I found the opening got stuck in a rut a bit, but now on my third season, the number of championships open to me, and therefore the number of cars I'm using is varied. i've also gotten a handle on how I want to play the game, and what to focus on achieving next, which helps to eradicate the "I don't know what to do" nature of the career. Now these two things have improved with the time I've put in, I've really started to love it, and a serious, dedicated racing game, its done a superb job at replicating the sport. and the online is brilliant too.
