Tom Clancy's The Division
I played a bit of the beta over the weekend and was impressed. It is much better than I expected it to be!
The combat feels very Mass Effect 2/3 like which is great and for the most part I enjoyed running through the PvE content in the Beta and exploring the city. Even with the odd arbitrary difficulty spikes. The Darkzone PvP area however has issues. It is very much for groups of players only due to the toughness of the AI enemies and the dickish-ness of the other players. There is no match making for it from what I can see which is odd and the game really doesn't do a good job of explaining how the Darkzone works. Especially extractions, which have a nice timer telling you how long until it arrives and you can presumably get the heck out of there. Sadly that countdown is a countdown to a wait until you can actually be extracted moment. A trap which I think every player falls for because as soon as the timer hit zero suddenly 6 other players filled the area with grenades killing everyone waiting for the chopper, including myself causing me to drop everything I had found/earned in the Darkzone. So yeah that wasn't fun...
I'm still on the fence about it and think I'll wait for reviews before making my final decision wether to buy it or not.

I wasn't a fan of the shooting mechanics at all and that made me pretty much dislike it from the off. Then it force-closed on me at the end of the subway mission. So, yeah.

Is there any single player component at all, or is it purely multiplayer?

It's like Destiny, you could do it on your own if you wanted

Re: Tom Clancy's The Division
You can run through the PvE stuff solo and it balances the game's equivalent of Dungeons for solo play. Also the open world has hidden areas and collectables. So there is quite a bit to do if you're looking at it as a single player experience.megablast16 wrote:Is there any single player component at all, or is it purely multiplayer?
Re: Tom Clancy's The Division
I've been really enjoying my time with The Division when I get it. I'm currently level 18 and I am having a lot of fun running through the game and gradually learning the its systems.
The only annoyance I have with it at the moment is that the early game tries to push you into using the healing skills rather than the tech and security skills. Not a major gripe because they've managed to make healing interesting in the game but still a tad annoying when the only things I seem to be unlocking are medical wing upgrades for just running through the missions in order.
