Windows 10 and HoloLens
Been skimming through the Windows 10 and HoloLens stuff from last night and I am impressed. It looks like Microsoft are really going for that broad, connected and shared experience they've been talking about for the past few years.
Gaming wise they are bringing the Xbox One UI/Functionality to PC with an App which includes Game DVR across any PC game (Steam included apparently) crossplay & crossbuy between Xbox One and PC gamers for certain games, Fable Legends being the first of these. Also a Remote Play like feature where you can use any PC in your home running Windows 10 to stream your Xbox One games to. It risks diluting the Xbox brand a bit but there is a lot of potential for both the Xbox One experience and the PC gaming experience to be improved by making them closer together.
Then there is HoloLens which the video above does a good job of showing off the intended final product. I'm always wary of these concept videos from Microsoft because they have a tendency to.....well......be full of lies and false promises. I'm a big fan of AR and the setup for HoloLens means that you are not locked off from the world like with VR headsets. Lots of potential for enhancing work/life and also games, especially if it connects with the Xbox One. Also there is loads of awesome potential for tabletop like games made for HoloLens which gets me very excited.

Hololens would be amazing if it worked like shown in the video, it's a big if though.

EuroGamer and a few other sites have had a hands on and it sounds like the experience is pretty close to the demo video!megablast16 wrote:Hololens would be amazing if it worked like shown in the video, it's a big if though.

I did spot that they mentioned Windows 10 is coming to XBox One suggesting some sort of operating system update to unify all of the Microsoft platforms; PC, tablet, phone and console. Not sure how the frig that will work though I picture teenagers playing Halo and quickly flipping to their Word document homework when their mum walks in.

The Xbox One currently runs on a modified version of Windows 8, this would just be a behind the scenes update.CPC6128 wrote:I did spot that they mentioned Windows 10 is coming to XBox One suggesting some sort of operating system update to unify all of the Microsoft platforms; PC, tablet, phone and console.
